Welcoming Martin Walkenshaw as Workshop Manager for Upington and Kathu

Martin’s journey in the automotive industry began with diverse roles that allowed him to refine his skills. In 2007, his talent caught the eye of Magnis Trucks, where he took on the challenge of working with advanced Nissan Diesel/UD Trucks technology. His dedication quickly saw him rise from an auto electrician to the Team Manager of the Electrical and Components Divisions, overseeing the assembly of re-manufactured engines and the Nissan Forklift Division.

In 2008, Martin seized an opportunity with Nissan Diesel/UD Trucks SA, starting as a Technical Specialist and quickly advancing to Fleet Service Manager of the Mega Fleets
Division by 2009. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing aftermarket support for around 6,000 UD vehicles and 18 UD-accredited fleet workshops. He also played a pivotal role in organizing the annual “Technician of the Year” championships.

January 2014 marked a new chapter in Martin’s career as he joined Unitrans, where he contributed his vast knowledge and skills to various dealerships and private entities.
Throughout his career, Martin has consistently demonstrated a proactive approach to challenges, respect for his colleagues, and a commitment to going the extra mile for customers.

Martin’s expertise lies in his ability to swiftly analyse and resolve problems, fully understanding the financial implications of operational downtime. He is dedicated to
delivering exceptional service, adding tangible value to the organizations he serves, and inspiring his colleagues to strive for excellence. We are excited to have Martin on board, and we look forward to the positive impact he will bring to our Upington and Kathu workshops.
