Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Department: Service and Workshop

Responsibilities:

  • Must be competent in vehicle maintenance and service.
  • Must be competent in trailer maintenance and repairs
  • Do fault diagnosis and repairs on various vehicle systems and components.
  • Remove, asses, repair & replace engines, and differentials.
  • Test, diagnose & repair airbrake systems and suspension components.
  • Remove, assess repair, and replace transmissions and clutch systems.
  • Must be able to perform wheel alignment on various vehicles.
  • Diagnose, remove, assess, repair, replace diesel fuel systems and components.
  • Diagnose, assess, repair cooling systems and components.
  • Diagnose, assess, remove, replace turbo charger system and components.
  • Diagnose hydraulic systems components, assess, repair and replace.
  • Compliance with Health & Safety measures.

 

Requirements:

  • A recognised Diesel Mechanic qualification is essential.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic with trailer repairs experience.
  • Exposure in a FAW Truck Workshop will be an added advantage.
  • Accurate working ability with high attention to detail is essential.
  • Excellent planning and organising skills with the ability to work in a systematic manner.
  • Driver’s licence (including a Code 14 and PDP) is a prerequisite.
  • Must be prepared to do rotational standby duties.

 

Remuneration:

Basic salary range of R22 000 – R30 000,00 depending on experience.
